Full list of UK locations the Lidl cola truck will be visiting — with mystery gifts worth £100
Lidl fans can can be in with a chance of nabbing up to £100 worth of items from the budget supermarket if they’re quick.
In an unexpected move, the retailer is launching their own Christmas Cola truck this year, to rival the iconic Coca-Cola one.
The 15 tonne, 20 metre long Freeway Cola truck will be setting off on a tour of Great Britain from November 14, heading to locations such as Dundee, Hull, Wolverhampton, Bournemouth, and Southampton, and along the way people will have the chance to score some fun freebies.
Lidl says the truck will ‘grant wishes’ and hand out more than 2,000 Middle Aisle present boxes. These will be similar to the mystery boxes the supermarket sold in August for £20 each, but this time they won’t cost you a penny.
The contents inside each of the boxes will be different, so the value of them will vary, but it could be up to as much as £100. What’s more, one in 10 of the boxes will contain a golden ticket – a coupon worth £100, that you could use for your Christmas shop at Lidl.
A number of present boxes will be given out at each stop to visitors on a first come, first served basis.
Each stop on the Freeway truck tour will also feature a pop-up wonderland, and while there visitors are able to submit a wish that would make Christmas magical for them. Once they’ve been collected, the retailer will then grant a number of wishes, making dreams big or small come true.
If this weren’t enough, Lidl will also be handing out festive food at the tour stops, and guests will be able to step inside a life-size present box and ring a bell for surprise treats such as Snowmallows, festive biscuits and more.
Where will Lidl’s Freeway Cola Christmas truck be going on tour:
- Dundee, November 14
- Harrogate, November 16
- Hull, November 17
- Nottingham, November 21
- Wolverhampton, November 23

To celebrate the tour Lidl’s Christmas ad this year will feature the Freeway truck, which is driven by a character known as ‘Nick’.
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, said: ‘Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get right into the heart of them this year.
‘By touring nine stops across the country, we’ll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true. Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun.’
Lidl’s Freeway truck will tour Great Britain from November 14 to December 1, visiting nine locations along the way from 12pm to 6pm. Follow the journey and check if your city is on the route by visiting lidl.co.uk/freeway_tour.
This comes after Lidl revealed they’d be opening 10 news stores across the UK before the end of 2024. As part of a major expansion, new supermarkets will open in areas such as Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon and Stirchley in Birmingham.
There will also be three more in London, with stores set to open in Hoxton, Forest Gate and Caterham. Lidl says they plan to solidify a ‘strong foothold’ in the capital.
And three already existing stores, in Chessington, Connah’s Quay and Dagenham Heathway, are to be refurbished and extended.
Bosses say that the new openings will create up to 400 job opportunities.
